A little piece of Leonard’s Electrics history

Every so often, a job turns up a little surprise. On a recent visit, we opened up an electrical installation in Jersey and found one of our very first Leonard’s Electrics stickers, still in place next to the “Danger 415 volts” warning.

It’s a bit faded and a little rusty around the edges, but it’s still doing its job. And it tells a story.

A sticker from another era

The clues are all in the phone numbers. The office number starts with 0534, the old Jersey dialling code from before the 1995 change to 01534. Our office number back then was 77350 - today it’s 01534 877350. There’s also an 0860 mobile number, a prefix you don’t see anymore.

Put together, those details date the sticker to the early 1990s. That means it’s been on this installation for more than 30 years.

A customer who stayed with us

The best part isn’t the sticker. It’s the customer behind it.

This customer has used Leonard’s Electrics ever since that first job. When the property was sold this year, our details were passed on to the new owners - and they’ve carried on using us too.

New property owners, new technology - and the same family business, more than 30 years later.

Why it matters to us

We’re a family business, and the business has passed from one generation to the next since that sticker went up. Electrical work has changed a lot too, from smart controls to EV chargers and modern testing standards. What hasn’t changed is the way we look after our customers.

It’s a nice reminder that good work and good service last. In this case, longer than the phone numbers.
